How a bet is settled

Betting rules exist for the cases where a match does not go to plan. Most slips never touch them, but knowing what happens to the ones that do is worth five minutes.

Void bets

A bet is voided and the stake returned when an event does not take place, when a player withdraws before a match starts, or when a market was offered at an obviously wrong price. A voided leg inside an accumulator is treated as odds of one, and the rest of the slip stands.

Abandoned and postponed matches

  • cricket reduced by weather settles on the official result where one is declared;
  • a football match abandoned before full time voids unsettled markets;
  • a fixture moved by more than the rulebook's window is voided and re-offered.

Price changes

The price on the slip at confirmation is the price that pays. If the board moves while a slip is open, the site asks before accepting the new number.

Where the full text lives

These are the rules that come up most often. The complete rulebook sits in the account section of the betting platform, and it is the version that settles a dispute.

The short version

Bet settlement follows the official result of the competition, not the scoreboard on a television feed. A void bet returns the stake and nothing more. Everything else in the rulebook exists to describe the edges of those two sentences.

The rulebook at 4rabet exists for the unusual cases, and most slips never meet it.
